Christmas Project

Join us this Christmas season making underprivileged children smile by giving them a special shoebox or bag filled with fun items!  You can make a difference in a child's life this Christmas by filling a shoebox or bag with goodies and sending it to us to give to a well-deserving child in need.

History has proven this to be an impacting project to both giver and the reciever.  Since the early 1990s, BUSES International has collected and distributed Christmas shoeboxes and bags to needy children in Mexico, El Salvador and right here in the United States.  A shoebox or bag is such a small thing, but it can make such a huge impression.

Currently, we are focusing our project on families here in the United States living in the Appalachia Mountain Region as well as in the Ohio cities of Lorain and Elyria (working in partnership with Love INC of Lorain County).  These areas have a reported poverty level among children twice that of the national average and have been designated by the US government as “distressed”.  The children in these areas struggle every day with hunger, insufficient clothing, inadequate housing and poor healthcare.

In poverty-stricken areas, parents/caretakers struggle to provide a special gift for their child during the Christmas season and children struggle not receiving a special gift during the Christmas season.  BUSES International’s Christmas Project is designed to express the love of God to both children and their parents/caretakers.

You will provide an opportunity for a child to experience a moment of love, happiness and hope.  Sure the items in your shoebox will not last very long, but the impact may be felt for a lifetime.  Read these testimonies.

Melissa was just a small child living in an orphanage when she received a shoebox gift from BUSES International.  “I remember the shoeboxes.  I remember you and the people who gave us the boxes.  I was so happy.”  That encounter touched Melissa’s heart so much that now as an adult, she recalls the impact.  Melissa now helps children who are growing up in a similar way she did.

“Our family always looks forward to doing the shoeboxes.  It’s our family project, and our children love to personalize their shoebox and fill it with items they would like to receive.”

“I’ve been out of work for so long.  Thank you for these gifts!  I wasn’t going to be able to get my kids anything special this year.  Thank you for coming!”

“The children here have seen horrible things this past year, but these gifts are like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.  Thank you so much!  Please thank those who made these gifts.  They’re wonderful!  I just can’t believe it!”

Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  It’s amazing how that works.  You give to bless a child and in the process of giving you get blessed.
